Do you want to use cmders git or an externally installed git? If cmders then uninstall the other two and make sure that are removed from the path env var.

I figured how it happened in my computer. I have a launcher Rocket Dock which I launched in compatibility mode, so launching any program from the launch it run with compatibility modes. It took a while, But finally I knew why command line behaved that way.

Most likely, this is happening because cmd is being run in 32bit mode. For you Anand, you probably have the 32bit version of Rocket Dock installed.

Before now, the only option you had was to open files one by one and manually search for what you wanted. Now, you don't have to do this.

Windows Grep is a free search tool for Windows that allows you search the text of multiple files at the same time. Its interface, although simple, is very practical and, thanks to its assistant, it is really easy to perform searches. You can make various adjustments to ensure you find the file that you want, such as the use of regular expressions or identical terms, the ability to search multiple directories, or eliminate files by extension, among other options.

In this example, the article shows how you would use Grep to search for a string in a single file. As you see, Select-String defaults to showing you the name of the file and the line number where a match was found.

Notice also that Grep matches using case sensitivity, and since Select-String is case insensitive by default, I have to use the -CaseSensitive parameter abbreviated to -ca in the command. If we want to get the exact same output as the Grep command in the first example, we could do the following:. Again, we see the default output of showing the filename and the line number before the matching text.

This is the grep example from the article:. One of the most loved and used features of grep is the possibility to use regular expressions for string matching, and of course Select-String also supports this.

If you only want to match on string, you must use the -SimpleMatch parameter! In grep you can use the -w parameter to tell grep to search for full words and not sub-strings.

Again, we are using the Context parameter, this time to indicate that we want 2 lines before and 0 after. And the reason for that is quite simple. While grep is mostly a console tool, and return text, Select-String returns objects with raw data. The results can be shown on the screen, but it could also be piped to other functions, like Out-File if you want to save the results to a file. Highlighting the matches is only good for showing on the screen though. It is possible to do this, but you would have to create a custom function for it.

Grep lets you search in all files under the current directory recursively, using the -r parameter:. Since Select-String is made to work with objects, you can simply pipe the results of Get-ChildItem alias ls into it and it will search through all the files it gets from the previous command:. Here I use the -Recursive parameter with the Get-ChildItem to recursively search for all files from the current folder. Using the parameter -v with grep, you can invert the matches.

Since Select-String works with objects, it accepts both a string as well as an array of strings, as this example shows. Note that this only counts the returned lines. If you want to count the returned matches you would use. In this example, the result are exactly the same though.

Contenteditable get cursor position

Since Select-String returns objects the returned object is of type MatchInfothe filename information is already present. We just have to use Select-Object to tell PowerShell that we want it. Here we are running the usual Select-String command, then we are utilizing the returned object to get the value of the matches instead of the whole line. The returned object have a Matches property that contains all the matches from the command. All of the matches have a value property that contains the value of the match.

Select-String treats text as most commands in PowerShell do, as an array of chars, and it also processes one line at the time. Because of this, we have to be a little clever to re-create this example in PowerShell:.
